Let's Talk About Sex

Starting in 2012, the Knox Adolescent Partners in Prevention Initiative (KAPPI), along with the Knox County Health Department, launched a campaign aimed at lowering the rate of teen pregnancy and STDs in Knox County. This campaign includes this website, posters, billboards and public service announcements (PSAs), as well as a Let's Talk Facebook page and a My Body, My Future Twitter account.

The goal is to raise awareness about these issues among both teens and parents. In reaching parents, the hope is to encourage them to talk to their kids, since we believe that's the best way to prevent teen pregnancy. For teens, the hope is that they will make good decisions regarding sex. You can see the PSA and one of the billboards below.

Real talk—
get vaccinated.

Getting routine shots from your doctor is never fun, but getting HPV is worse.

Protect yourself by getting vaccinated. The HPV Vaccine is cancer prevention. Ask your doctor about what you can do to stay safe, or call 865-215-5000 to schedule a vaccination appointment at the Health Department.
