The importance of setting goals
Published: March 27, 2014
Why do I set goals for my future? Setting goals is important to me because I think it’s important to work toward my dreams and what I want to do and be in my life. It’s easy to get side-tracked with life - school, friends, boyfriends and girlfriends-and forget that I have to constantly be working toward my future to be the best that I can be.
Because life gets so busy and distracting, it feels important to me to make short-term and long-term goals. My short-term goals usually consist of finishing a paper by a certain deadline, or running more this week than I did last week. These are important for me to set and keep because they allow me to accomplish and celebrate small victories in my life, which motivates me to accomplish and work hard towards my big, long-term goals. My long-term goals consist of goals I am working towards in the future, like graduating from college, getting a job that I enjoy after I graduate, and running a marathon. Those are my goals, my dreams. What are yours? Start now, make a plan.
Getting routine shots from your doctor is never fun, but getting HPV is worse.
Protect yourself by getting vaccinated. The HPV Vaccine is cancer prevention. Ask your doctor about what you can do to stay safe, or call 865-215-5000 to schedule a vaccination appointment at the Health Department.
