Published: August 5, 2019

We have all had that nervous feeling in our stomach: summer break is coming to an end, and you’re dreading that first day back. After all the days of sleeping in, staying up late to enjoy the summer nights, and no homework, it’s time to start the school year all over again. While it can be tough to get back into the swing of things for school, take this moment to reflect on all the fun, adventurous, or relaxing activities you experienced during your break. We all know that school can be stressful, so let’s take some time to learn some ways to cope with our stress.

During school we have homework, exams, afterschool activities. . .the list can go on. How do you plan to carve out time to take care of yourself? Here are some ideas: take a long walk, try meditation or yoga, breathing exercises, or even take your time eating a good meal. Another way to decrease the nerves or stress you have for your first day of school is to be prepared. Pick out your outfit for the next day, make sure your lunch is packed, and all of your school supplies are in your backpack. By being organized for the next day, you can cut down your time to get ready in the morning, and it is one less thing to worry about. We are all different, and we each have different stresses coming at us daily. We encourage you to find out what can help you cope with your stress, and a create a routine that works to keep you prepared for the upcoming school year.
